Tummy Tuck

A Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty, is a procedure in which excess skin and fat are removed from the lower abdomen and the core muscles of the abdomen are re-approximated, or brought together, with stitches in order to achieve a more youthful flat and tight appearance. This procedure is typically necessary after pregnancy in adults. The incision is typically from hip to hip and can be combined with liposuction on the flanks/sides of the body to reduce the overall waist line.

abdominoplasty benefits

Improve abdominal Appearance

The abdominal skin which has grown loose with pregnancy or weight gain/loss will be pulled tighter and flat again.  The abdominal musculature, which has stretched from pregnancy, is tightened down like a corset to shape the waistline.

Tighter skin

All the loose skin that has been acquired over time from weight gain/loss or pregnancy in the abdominal region will be tightened and removed.

Firmer

A corset procedure is used to retighten the muscles which have spread apart from pregnancy, in what is referred to as, Diastasis Recti.

What is the difference between tummy tuck and liposuction?

A Tummy Tuck reconstructs the muscles underneath and removes excess skin. Liposuction only removes excess fat, liposuction will not remove or reduce loose, hanging, or excess skin.

How are the abdominal muscles repaired?

Dr. Mosca uses permanent stitches to tighten the abdominal muscles which are made of medical-grade nylon. These stitches will not dissolve over time and are located inside your muscles.

Am I a good candidate for a tummy tuck?

Good candidates for a Tummy Tuck have been affected by pregnancy or massive weight loss. Typically abdominal skin has lost elasticity and/or you have stretch marks marks on your abdomen.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF TUMMY TUCKS?

There are four types of abdominoplasty performed by Dr Mosca depending on your consultation: Mini Abdominoplasty with Liposuction with the incision within the hip bones, Umbilical Float Abdominoplasty, a full abdominoplasty with incision to the outside of the hip bones, and the extended abdominoplasty with the incision extending  toward the back.

WILL A TUMMY TUCK REMOVE STRETCH MARKS?

An Abdominoplasty will remove stretch marks  below the belly button.
