RECONFIGURE

THE SHAPE OF

YOUR NOSE

A rhinoplasty typically improves the appearance of a patient suffering from a dorsal hump (bump on the nose)

or bulbous/boxy tip (wide nasal tip).

 IMPROVE BREATHING

Sometimes patients suffer from difficulty breathing which can be done at the time of rhinoplasty by straightening the nasal septum or reducing the bony protrusions within the nose.

IMPROVE THE

SIZE OF YOUR NOSE

The dorsal boney structures can be made more narrow along with the nostrils during a rhinoplasty.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN “OPEN” AND CLOSED”  RHINOPLASTY?

The difference between “open” and “closed” rhinoplasty is whether an incision (scar) is made in the columella on the undersurface of the nose. Dr. Mosca only performs open rhinoplasty at this point for adequate visualization of the bony/cartilaginous structures to reshape the nose.

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY PROCESS LIKE?

As with most facial surgeries, most swelling is resolved at six months, and a patient is able to be out socially at 2 weeks with makeup.  The nose will have a splint on it initially for 1 week.

WHEN SHOULD I SEE FINAL RESULTS?

Dr. Mosca typically places the incision along the inframammary fold which runs along the breast crease. This is where the underside of the breast meets the skin of the upper abdominal area.

HOW DO YOU RECONSTRUCT THE NOSE?

Typical reconstruction of the nose involves resection of redundant cartilage/bone from certain areas and manipulating it in others with sutures and grafts to shape the framework of the nose to be aesthetic to redrape the skin and soft tissues on.
