safe liposculpture

SAFE Liposuction/Liposculpture is a procedure in which fat is removed from stubborn areas of the body that are not amenable to diet and exercise. Small incisions are placed strategically through which long cannulae are used to remove fat from these areas. Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss it is meant to be used in areas that are difficult to lose the fat in. The SAFE acronym of for this type of liposuction performed by Dr. Mosca, is a three-step process in which the fat is separated, or emulsified prior to aspiration (suctioned) and followed by a fat equalization procedure.

What does "SAFE" stand for?

separate

Fat is emulsified/broken up prior to removing any fat with suction in order to reduce the overall appearance and trauma to the area.

aspirate

Fat is removed from specific areas.

fat equalize

The remaining fat that is left in an area, as to not cause contour irregularities like lumpiness, is grazed over or “sanded down” by going back over the areas without suction to even out all areas.

WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION?

Good candidates will have overall good health, be slightly above-weight and have supple, elastic skin. SAFE Liposuction works best for people who have pockets of unwanted fat that have not responded to dieting and exercise.

Does Dr. Mosca  perform  round 2 Lipo?

Due to the increased risk for necrosis, loss of skin, and perforation Dr. Mosca will not perform any form of round 2 liposuction, with or without BBL.

I have loose skin, am I a candidate for Lipo?

Patients with loose skin may still be a candidate for liposuction but will need a skin resection at some point to have smooth contours.  Liposuction will NOT tighten loose skin folds

Are massages required?

Dr. Mosca requires lymphatic massages post-operatively starting day 1 postop and continuing for at least 1 month.  Most patients who want successful results have at least 12-15 massages over the course of 1 month.

How much time should I take off work?

Typically, patients will need to take at least 1 week off from work.  If their work requires manual/physical labor, it could be up to 1 month on light duty.

How much fat can Dr. Mosca remove?

Dr. Mosca can remove up to 4 liters of fat at any one time.  Not everyone needs 4 liters taken though.

Do the results from liposuction last?

As long as the patient maintains a healthy diet and exercise regimen, the results from liposuction will last.  Weight gain can make your appearance uneven and lumpy over time.
